Drawings delivered to DNV should be in the format of PDF files (Adobe Acrobat), DWG files (Autodesk AutoCAD) or on paper (hardcopy).

Files can be delivered through email or on CD/DVD.

The files shall be saved in original/correct format and scale if not otherwise approved by DNV. Colour / line width configuration has to be suitable for printing on white paper. Normally black lines should be used unless colour coding is necessary for readability.

  1. Files in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format for local printing:

For AutoCAD 2007 and newer versions the following procedure can be used. (Exception is for AutoCAD 2008 where the DWG to PDF driver is faulty)

    • Start Plot command
    • Choose the DWG to PDF.pc3 driver
    • Choose correct sheet format (paper size)
    • Choose correct plot area (Limits/Extents/Window or Layout)
    • Choose correct scale and automatic centring if applicable

If proper paper size is not present it is possible to add a custom paper size by clicking the Properties button in the plot dialog box.

    • Choose Custom paper Sizes in the tree structure
    • Choose the Add button below

    • Choose Start from scratch and Next
    • Select Millimeters as units, enter paper height and width and choose Next
    • Enter margins. For PDF the margins can be set to 0 (zero) for all edges. Choose Next
    • Enter a proper name for the paper format
    • If a question for a PMP-file name appears, just accept the proposal and choose Next
    • If a question for saving a PC3-file appears, select Save changes to the following File: and choose OK

The added paper size will now be available in the Paper Size list box.

Adobe Acrobat or approved 3rd party PDF printer drivers can also be used and the procedure will be almost identical to the above.

  2. Files in DWG (Autodesk AutoCAD) format for local printing:

DWG files have to be delivered as a complete file set including all underlying files.

A neutral printer driver as DWG to PDF or DWF6 ePlot has to be selected prior to saving the drawings.

The Plot Style Table has to be configured for printing on white paper. Normally black lines should be used unless colour coding is necessary for readability. Light colours, for instance yellow, have to be avoided.

For AutoCAD 2000i and newer versions the following procedure can be used for saving complete file sets.

    • Open the drawing to be exported
    • Use the eTransmit command found under the File pull-down menu

  3. Drawings can also be delivered printed on paper (hard copy)
