Objective

DNV Navigator’s objective is to provide our users with a product and service that gives the Shipmaster and his deck Officers the right information at the right time with the least amount of effort.

DNV Navigator is well established in the shipping market with more than 85 owners/management companies and 1500 vessels using the system. It is continuously being updated with new contents and functionalities added.

Purpose
The purpose of DNV Navigator is to provide vessels with timely information and forms needed to meet Port State Authorities’ requirements.

Benefits
The result will be that the Shipmaster or the Officer in charge will carry out these tasks in a more timely, correct and effective manner. In other words, a cost-effective tool enhancing safety for crew and ship as well as providing ground for effective operations of the ship in the process of navigating the ship through regulated passages and in and out of ports.

The Nautical Institute has published papers that have pointed out that all the tasks placed on the Shipmasters' shoulders over the last years are too much. The growing mountain of paperwork due to new rules and regulations combined with reduced manning are a growing problem which ultimately may threaten safety at sea.
